global results on some nonlinear partial differential equations for direct and inverse problems
Existence and Multiplicity Results for Degenerate Elliptic Equations with Dependence on the Gradient
Recommended by Shujie Li We study the existence of positive solutions for a class of degenerate nonlinear elliptic equations with gradient dependence. For this purpose, we combine a blowup argument, the strong maximum principle, and Liouville-type theorems to obtain a priori estimates. This is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unres...
متن کاملGlobal Irregularity for Mildly Degenerate Elliptic Operators
Examples are given of degenerate elliptic operators on smooth, compact manifolds that are not globally regular in C∞. These operators degenerate only in a rather mild fashion. Certain weak regularity results are proved, and an interpretation of global irregularity in terms of the associated heat semigroup is given.
متن کاملRegularity Results for Very Degenerate Elliptic Equations
We consider a family of elliptic equations introduced in the context of traffic congestion. They have the form ∇·(∇F(∇u)) = f , where F is a convex function which vanishes inside some convex set and is elliptic outside. Under some natural assumptions on F and f , we prove that the function ∇F(∇u) is continuous in any dimension, extending a previous result valid only in dimension 2 [14]. Résumé....
متن کاملContinuity in two dimensions for a very degenerate elliptic equation
An elliptic equation ∇· (F (∇u)) = f whose ellipticity strongly degenerates for small values of ∇u (say, F = 0 on B(0, 1)) is considered. The aim is to prove regularity for F (∇u). The paper proves a continuity result in dimension two and presents some applications.
